EverNote #8 : Does joplin have limits on the number of devices or notes or folders or anything?

Unlike Evernote, Joplin does not have any built-in limits on the number of devices, notes, or folders you can use for free. Because it is open-source software, you own your data and aren't restricted by a "paywall" for basic usage. [1, 2, 3, 4]

However, there are "practical" limits based on how you choose to sync your notes:
1. No Device Limits

* Unlimited Sync: You can install Joplin on as many phones, tablets, and computers as you want.
* Third-Party Sync: If you use a free service like Dropbox to sync, you are only limited by that service's rules (e.g., Dropbox's free tier allows 3 devices, but Joplin connects directly to their API, which sometimes bypasses this limit depending on the device type). [2, 5, 6, 7]

2. No Note or Folder Limits [8]

* Infinite Notes: You can create thousands of notes and nested notebooks without paying a cent.
* Storage Space: Your only limit is the actual storage space on your device or your cloud provider (e.g., if your free OneDrive has 5GB of space, that is your limit for Joplin attachments). [3, 9, 10]

3. Note Size Limits

* Performance: While there is no hard "cap," the developer recommends keeping individual notes below 10MB to ensure they sync smoothly on mobile devices without crashing the app's memory. [11]

4. Optional Paid Tier (Joplin Cloud) [7]
The only time you would encounter specific limits is if you choose to pay for [Joplin Cloud](https://joplinapp.org/plans/), their official hosting service: [12]

* Basic Plan: Limits you to 10MB per note/attachment and 2GB total storage.
* Pro Plan: Increases this to 200MB per attachment and 30GB total storage.
* Note: Most users avoid these fees by using their own free cloud storage instead. [13, 14]

Summary
If you use your own Dropbox or OneDrive to sync, Joplin is 100% free with no limits on how much you can organize. [15, 16]
Shall we move on to how to export your Evernote data so you can test it out in Joplin?
