EverNote #10 : How easy or difficult to export from EverNote to Joplin?

Exporting from Evernote to Joplin is generally considered straightforward but time-consuming, primarily because you have to process each notebook individually. [1, 2] 

Why it is simple:

* Built-in Importer: Joplin has a dedicated tool specifically for Evernote files.

* Data Preservation: The import process successfully brings over your attachments, images, tags, and titles.

* Metadata: Essential information like "date created" and "date updated" is typically preserved. [3, 4, 5, 6] 

The "Difficult" Parts:

* One Notebook at a Time: You cannot simply click one button to move your entire Evernote account. You must right-click each notebook in the [Evernote desktop app](https://evernote.com/), select Export, and save it as an ENEX file.

* Desktop App Required: You must use the Evernote desktop application (Windows or Mac) to perform the export; you cannot do a full notebook export from the mobile app or web browser.

* Formatting Changes: Because Evernote uses HTML and Joplin uses Markdown, complex notes (like those with advanced tables or specific font colors) may lose some styling during conversion.

* No "Sync" Migration: You can't just link the two accounts. It is a manual file transfer—exporting a file from one and importing it into the other. [4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11] 

How to do it (The Steps):

   1. In Evernote (Desktop): Right-click a notebook -> Export Notebook -> Choose ENEX format -> Save the file.

   2. In Joplin (Desktop): Go to File -> Import -> ENEX - Evernote Export File (as Markdown) -> Select your saved file.

   3. Repeat: Do this for every notebook you want to keep. [3, 7, 8, 9, 12] 

Total Effort: If you have 5-10 notebooks, it will take about 15 minutes. If you have 50+ notebooks, it could take an hour or more of clicking. [13, 14]
