LET'S TAKE A CLOSER LOOK :
The most recent find reported in early 2026 was a deposit discovery in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa that produced about 225 barrels of oil per day but 1.01 million standard cubic feet of gas per day at just one test site.
Pakistan’s state-run OGDC has described the latest wells as commercially viable and useful for reducing import dependence.
Earlier reporting also mentioned other recent finds, including a January 2026 discovery in Kohat that reportedly flowed 4,100 barrels of oil per day and 10.5 million standard cubic feet of gas per day, plus other discoveries in Sindh, Attock, and North Waziristan.
The Pak Gov't estimates that according to tests, the geological depth of these discoveries average around 5 km vertical, indicating meassive deposits.
Pakistan’s drilling tests of offshore oil and gas deposits inside territorial waters, indicate that reserves could be very large and potentially change the economy ... Pakistan’s untapped shale resources could also be substantial.
